Understanding Gomed Stone Quality

Knowledge about quality is very necessary prior to buying any stone. The quality of a hessonite stone plays a key role in determining its beauty, rarity, and market value.

Color

Color ranks high on the list of characteristics that determine quality.

Most desirable colors include:

• Honey brown
• Cinnamon brown
• Golden brown
• Orange-brown

Stones with rich and excellent color saturation are usually more desirable.

Clarity

Inclusions can exist in natural hessonite gems. Small inclusions are common and indicate that the stone is indeed natural. Nonetheless, too many inclusions can impact:

• Transparency
• Aesthetics
• Desirability

Transparency

Transparent and translucent gems are highly preferred in the gem industry. High transparency usually enhances the beauty and brilliance of a gemstone.

Cut

A skillful cut will improve a gem's overall appearance and light reflection. Some popular cuts and shapes for this stone are oval, cushion, round, and mixed cut.

Origin

A stone's mining source can significantly influence its quality and market value. When it comes to this cinnamon-colored stone, Sri Lankan (Ceylon) varieties are considered the best.

Sri Lankan or Ceylon hessonite gemstones are appreciated for their color quality, high clarity, and uniformity.

Treatment Disclosure

Buyers must seek information about treatments or enhancements done on the gemstone, if any. Knowing whether it has received any treatment helps make better buying decisions.

Certification

A certified stone offers a lot of information about authentication, natural source, gem identification, and quality factors. Besides, it safeguards your interests as a buyer and investor.

Hessonite Stone Price

Original gomed stone price in India can start from ₹250 per carat and go up to ₹4,600 per carat and more.

There are many factors that affect the price of the gemstone, including its color, clarity, origin, weight, and testing by an authorized laboratory. Each particular stone is unique, and hence, prices may significantly differ.

Factors that Influence the Cost Of Gomedhikam

Color

Highly saturated honey-brown and/or cinnamon-colored specimens are usually preferred.

Clarity

Higher clarity and transparency in stones generally contribute to premium prices.

Origin Source

Sri Lankan hessonite is generally more expensive because of its high market demand and quality eminence.

Carat Weight

Larger carat stones are generally scarcer and more costly. However, when making a purchase, don’t finalize your decision solely based on carat weight. You should consider the overall quality of the stone.

Gem Cut

The right cut can enhance the beauty of the gemstone. However, the cutting can lead to stone wastage in the process.

So, the price of the faceted-cut gomed tends to be higher compared to the hessonite cabochon if other factors are constant.

Rahu Stone Authenticity & Certification Guidelines

Not all hessonites are worth buying. The industry is flooded with both natural and fake gemstones. That is why understanding authenticity becomes non-negotiable for you as a buyer.

A gem might look good from the outside, but it won't deliver what you're looking for. Remember to verify authenticity by asking for certifications when making a purchase and avoid being scammed.

In the gemstone market, you may find synthetic imitations, glass-filled stones, dyed stones, and inferior-quality gems advertised as high-quality gems. Therefore, learn about distinguishing the real hessonite gemstone.

One of the best ways to verify authenticity is by checking the lab reports issued by internationally certified laboratories such as GIA, GTL, IGI, IIGJ, GII, etc. Also, there are other ways like checking -

• Natural appearance
• Color uniformity
• Transparency
• Minimal natural inclusions

Importance of Gemstone Certification
